Twigs are unusually dark brown, almost black, hence the name "blacktwig". Tree can reach by eight feet, and have a spreading bushy appearance. Twigs long and bent down by heavy fruit load.〔 Fruits come in heavy clusters and have a fair amount of natural sugar for its lime flavor. However it still lacks the tinge of acid of common citrus fruits, so some might find it insipid. Fruit shape is globose, about eight cm. in diameter. It has lots of long, big and strong thorns, as implicated from the botanical name, longi-spina.〔
